About Erin Lykos

In 2006 Erin Lykos graduated from Adelaide Centre for the Arts, TAFE SA with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Applied Design. She majored in ceramics under the guidance and expertise of lecturers Bruce Nuske and Peter Johnson. On graduating she received the highest achievements in ceramics for her year and was selected by the Helpmann Academy for their annual graduate exhibition.

In 2007 Erin was selected to undertake a two-year Design Associateship in JamFactory’s Ceramic Studio. During this career development training she was guided and mentored by some of South Australia’s most prominent ceramic artists; Stephen Bowers (Managing Director), Philip Hart (2007 Creative Director, ceramics) and Robin Best (2008 Creative Director, ceramics).

During her time at the JamFactory, Erin was selected by the Helpmann Academy to participate in a six-week artist residency at the Jingdezhen Pottery Workshop, China, together with three other artists. While in China she was able to visit other creative centres including Shanghai, Beijing and Xian. This profound experience has been a huge source of inspiration for Erin.

In 2009 Erin set up her home studio in the rural town of Wallaroo on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula. This quiet rural setting next to the ocean was the perfect place to contemplate ideas after so much creative stimulation. At the beginning of 2010 she re-located back to Adelaide, where she currently works full time on her ceramic practice.
